DMC was founded in 1971 by Dr S N Koushik, a social scientist and manpower expert in Pune. His insights and understanding of the socio-cultural behaviour of the Indian workforce gave him an advantage in effectively dealing with both complex and sensitive situations in industry. His successes in handling such situations earned him both, the confidence of business leaders and the goodwill of the trade unions. DMC has always followed a policy of operating within the legal framework even whilst dealing with the most complex of situations. It is due to this ethical integrity of DMC that the consultancy enjoys its current reputation. DMC today practically covers all areas of manpower management. It has a vast knowledge repository of case studies and research as a result of decades in industry experience. Apart from being associated with the reputed names in industry such as the Kirloskar group and Cummins India, DMC consultants have consistently been on advisory panels of several government and non governmental organisations. Among many such organisations, DMC today is actively involved with the Maratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and the National Human Resource Development (NHRD) - Network. DMC has been largely instrument in initiating the Pune chapter of the National Institute of Personnel Management.
Philosophy
The need of Industry today In India people related issues have traditionally been uncomfortable issues to industry. This is largely due to labour laws and Government policies being disproportionately in favour of labour over management. In the post globalisation era it has become increasingly difficult to meet the present day global demand of striking the desired balance between quality, time and cost in India. Manpower management in India has always been both critical and sensitive. Not all industrial units have the sustenance of establishing in-house departments to handle manpower issues. They depend on a panel of consultants to deal with various people related issues. As a result there is often lack of coordination in people related activities. There is an increasing need in industry to rationalise and synergise all people related activities.
